Brief Answer:
Can use Glutathione

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I am Dr. Kakkar, I have gone through your query.

I would like to know the name of the cream/ingredients contained in it, that you have been using.

You can definitely use Glutathione pills for fairness. Oral glutathione intake results in a lightening of skin color. However, long-term safety has not been established. Mind you, it is not for permanent fairness!! Therefore, what you can do is, you can take Glutathione pills for 4-8 weeks and once the desired effect has been achieved you can discontinue glutathione pills and subsequently maintain the improved complexion by using a broad spectrum sunscreen throughout the day and at night you may apply a cream containing skin lightening agents like kojic acid, glycolic acid etc which can be safely used even for a longer term.

hi-I already have the desired complexion I don't want to get fairer I just want to maintain my complexion. Can I just take 500mg of glutathione as a maintenance pill ong term(like 7or 8 years). I don't know the ingredients in my cream and that really worries me and also its very stressful to apply cream every night because Iam a student and I often do late night studies so I don't want to use any cream at night. Please say if I can use a glutathione pill as a maintenance pill for long term????.....and if I can what is the best glutathione pill available in market?....is dr XXXXXXX glutathione beneficial???

Brief Answer:
Glutathione

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

You may take it for maintenance of improvement. As I mentioned long term safety and efficacy has not been studied. However, it is generally considered to be safe for long term use because it is a natural antioxidant also present in our diet.

There are a lot of brands available online. You may choose any of them based on reviews. A low dose e.g 500mg, may not work as expected since most of the glutathione is metabolised before absorption. Therefore I would suggest you to take the recommended dose of glutathione i.e 1000 - 2000 mg per day in 2 divided doses even for maintenance

Brief Answer:
Glutathione

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

-dr. XXXXXXX glutathione is fine to take.
-I would suggest 1000 mg per day.
-Vit C (Tab. Celin 500 mg) is be taken along with glutathione either 1 hr before meals or 2 hr after meals. Vit c is also a potent antioxidant and spares glutathione in tissues, therefore potentiates its action. However, i must reiterate the fact that its use for this purpose is not US FDA approved( it is the highest governing body for use of medicines).
-Demelan cream contains kojic acid, glycolic acid. It is marketed by glenmark/gracewell pharmaceuticals in XXXXXXX

As far as my personal opinion is concerned, I would advice you to use a good sunscreen, take vitamin c supplements and undergo few chemical peel sessions (glycolic acid peel) to even out skin tone and maintain a fairer glow. You can also use Kojic acid, arbutin, vitamin c based creams or Glycolic acid creams every night to get and maintain a clearer skin.

Brief Answer:
Glutathione and chemical peeling

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

-The role of glutathione as a skin whitening agent was discovered as a side effect of large doses of glutathione. Thereafter it came into use as a skin whitening agent.
-No side effects or interactions are known with oral administration of Glutathione even in prolonged use for years together. However, it is not yet approved for this indication.
-You can obtain authentic glutathione from sites like eBay, XXXXXXX These sites are reliable in terms of autheniticity of products.

I think it is worth a try if someone desires to become fair. I would personally not recommend to my patients simply because it is not approved for this indication but as it is easily available even without a doctor's prescription and side effects are not a concern with it and moreover it is a natural antioxidant, therefore I am not too negative about it either.

Chemical peel can be done anywhere on the body including face, neck, arms, back and legs. Face is the most common site on which chemical peeling is performed. Almost all dermatologist perform chemical peeling and you can visit a dermatologist of your own choice in your region. Usually it is advisable to take a few sessions in continuity to produce noticeable results (say e.g 6-8 sessions at 2 weeks intervals), thereafter once a month for maintenance.

Chemical peeling has no long term side effects and can be taken as long as one desires to slow down skin ageing and keep a younger looking, youthful skin for long.

The effects of chemical peel are more persistent if you take a number of sessions and not just 1 or 2 sessions. Once the desired effect is achieved, you may take a chemical peel once in a month for maintenance to maintain a youthful clear skin and slow down ageing.

My opinion about chemical peeling is that they are really good to enhance one's skin and regular peeling once in month would maintain glowing youthful skin as well as slow down skin ageing.
