Posted on Tue, 28 Jun 2016
Question: Two yrs before I had hypertension and sleep disorder. That time doctor was given tab Olmesoe-10 and Escitapax plus (Escitalopram 10 mg & Clonazepam 0.5 mg). Afetr 6 month BP was normal. Doctor said not to take BP tab but continue Escitapax Plus. I wwas OK with this tab. Before 2 month I transfer to new place in XXXXXXX but I did nt get that tab and discontinued the medicin and again got sleep disorder. Again visit local doctor and continue the same by another brand name. Recently I visited diffrent neurologist to ask how long the tab to be continued describibg all the history. After listning all, he changed the tab by Lonazep 0.5mg (Clonazepam 0.5 mg) and advised to take 1 month and visit again. He stopped the Escitalopram 10 mg which was in the tab Escitapax Plus. It is OK to me? Pl advise.

Brief Answer:
No need of escitalopram for insomnia.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I have gone through your details and reports.

Escitalopram is basically an antidepressant and antianxiety drug.
Clonazepam is mainly used for inducing sleep.

If you do not have history or symptoms of depression, there is no need to take escitalopram.

Follow your doctor's advice regarding Clonazepam. It is always better to quit Clonazepam as early as possible as it is habit forming.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
