Posted on Fri, 21 Oct 2016
Question: why does Diltiazem cause minor chest pain? Since being on Diltiazem I've had foggyness and now minor chest pains. My doctors scheduled me for a cardiologist and he says it sounds fine but the palpitations and aches worry me.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

Chest pain is a rare side effect of diltiazem and before concluding that it's important to exclude cardiac problems first.

This is why you should go for a cardiologist consultation. If you were my patient I would recommend to do the following examinations to exclude cardiac issues:
- Blood work
- Ecg
- Cardiac echo
- Holter monitoring
- Stress test
- Abdominal ultrasound

If everything is ok than your symptoms are related to diltiazem use.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
