Can Diazepam And Benadryl Help In Lower Esophageal Sphincter?

default
Posted on Mon, 26 May 2014
Question: I was diagnosed with LPR (Silent Reflux). My symptoms were difficulty swollowing, excessive mucus, sore throat, and hoarsness. I started Dr. K's "Dropping Acid Diet" two weeks ago and many of my symptoms have improved. I still have lingering hoarsness that at times gets better and at times get worse. I also have some anxiety issues and at times (very infrequently) take a small dose of Diazapam (2.5 ot 5 mg) to help sleep or I might even use Benedryl. I read online, however, that Diazapam and Benedryl can both cause my XXXXXXX to losen up a bit. Which drug is safer to use if this is the case? Should both be avoided or is ocassional use of either OK?

Thanks for posting your query.

Both diazepam and benadryl can to some extent relax the LES
So it is better to avoid both these medications if you feel your symptoms worsens after taking these medications.

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
