Can Cleocin Be Taken When Allergic To Sulfa?

Question: I have been prescribed cleocin. I am allergic ( hives , swollen tongue,swollen throat and anafylaxis ) to Sulfa, Zitromax , penicillin, lisinopril, fiorecet and barbituates. Can I take the Cleocin ?

cleocin is clindamycin which is a different drug class that's not supposed to cross-react with other antibiotic drug classes. I can't say whether it's safe or not because it can't be predicted. You won't know until you try...
