Question
Hi, just wondering if there is any possibility that Celebrex (celecoxib, taken 200mg daily) would have any effect on the efficacy of oral contraception, or the potential to cause gastric reflux?

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
Celecoxib is COX2 inhibitor and it blocks cyclooxygenase enzyme.
Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Stomach upset or gas may occur. Rarely, this medication can cause serious stomach/intestinal bleeding.
Other side effects are severe headache, unexplained weight gain, swelling of the hands or feet, pain/swelling/warmth in the groin/calf, change in amount of urine, difficult/painful swallowing.
If you notice side effects, stop taking celecoxib and seek immediate medical attention.
Celecoxib has no effect on oral contraceptive as contraceptive pills are hormonal in nature and celecoxib has no effect on hormones.
Acid reflux occurs due to lax XXXXXXX or hiatus hernia. Celecoxib very rarely causes gastric upset but never affect XXXXXXX and never promote hiatus hernia formation.
You should consult with physician and till any conclusion you should stop tis medicine.
Put your query if you have.
Thanks,
