Brief Answer:
Both provide same coverage

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
Cephalosporins along with Azithromycin are the drug of choice for typhoid fever.
In general, both Cefopodoxime and Cefdinir provide the same coverage for typhoid. It's just the personal choice of the doctor as well as the response to treatment.
If you fever is responding after the treatment with previous regimen by your doctor, you don't need to change your antibiotics.
However, if your fever is not responding even after 5 days of antibiotics then adding Azithromycin to Cefopodoxime as you are saying is the choice of treatment according to me.
Changing the antibiotics so frequently can cause antibiotic resistance and hence should be best avoided.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.

Brief Answer:
Take B complex with Zinc.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, in such case I would recommend you to take a B complex multivitamin contain Zinc. It's commonly available as OTC drug Zincovit.
Take it once a day. Continue to apply Orasep ointment.
These oral ulcers usually occur due to antibiotics and not due to typhoid.
Continue with these medicines and you would be fine soon.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

Thanks Sir,
After giving cefpodoxime 200 mg twice a day for seven days and Azithral 500 mg once a day for three days for treating Typhoid, our pediatrician has prescribed Nonamox CV 625 for another five days.
His fever is in control but still remains in 99-100 range without taking paracetamol.
How much time it will take to become normal? How we shall come to know that typhoid is completely cured?
Please give your suggestion about the treatment followed by our Doctor.
oral Ulcer are still present,Beplex is started.
Waiting for your reply

Brief Answer:
Requires 14 days of treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I don't prefer to change antibiotics so frequently.
In my opinion antibiotics should be continued for at least a period of 2 weeks and fever gets normal.
For oral ulcers Beplex is quite a good supplement and would go away soon.
So, I suppose Cefopodoxime and Azithromycin should be continued.
I hope it helps.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
