Can Benzodiazepine Be Taken Instead Of Stalopam Without Any Side Effects?

Question: Hi, i have anxiety disorder and panics. If i take stalopam plus 5 mg . I will not have any fears but it has few side effects like reducing sex drive.


And i dont have depression. So it is. Goid idea to take benzodiazepines instead stalopam ? Pleae advice.my martiage is comming up in next 2 weeks.so i would like to have some meficine to reduce my panics

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.

Sexual side effects are common with Escitalopram. If your anxiety problem is not severe, you can go with only benzodiazepine. In that case I recommend stopping Escitalopram gradually by tapering to half dose if you are taking already.
Benzodiazepine should be taken under medical supervision to prevent dependence and abuse.

With benzodiazepine I also suggest going for psychotherapy. In psychotherapy I specifically recommend CBT- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. This will reduce your need of benzodiazepine and you can stop it easily.
