Question: I am on a number of medications and developing a UTI I believe. I have a history of frequent urinary tract infections and carry with me sulfatrim DS. My question is I am on Pradaxa, flecainide, levothyroxine, and metoprolol. Can I take my generic Bactrim safely with the other medications I am on?

Brief Answer:
Not safe to take SulfatrimDS with Pradaxa and Flecainide.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM.
Well i can understand your anxiety and hope to relieve you of this.
As an Urologist, first of all, let me advise you not to carry SulfatrimDS with you and self treat UTI, without an urine culture test. It's an ill-adviced practice.
You're also warned not to take that tablet anymore, even for UTI, as it has
serious interactions with both, Pradaxa and Flecainide.
For UTI, there are several safer medicines available, which have no drug interactions or side-effects, with your medications.
Hope your doubt is cleared.
Wish you good health.
