Well loooking into your problem I would like to tell you that Aleva contains Ebastine which is a pretty safe drug . Most common reported side effects are headache, dry mouth and drowsiness. It is prescribed for controlling allergies and once the acute episode settles down it is given on symptom basis that is patient can take this drug when required or when symptoms occur .
You should follow your doctors instruction , if he thinks that the child needs long term treatment then it can be given with regular monitoringand supervision .
