Sir, I have not even started my treatment anywhere and i am not sure about which doctor to consult? But, my problem is i was used to inhale "toulene" for past 6 months on regular basis through my nose and now from past 3 months i have qiut this habbit. I have also quit my drinking habbit completely from same past 3 months. I don't understand the exact reason but now i have a very strong burning sensation inside my nose, mouth(inside the throat) and also in my brain( mostly in the back portion) and my right ear and joint of right arm pains a lot. I am not able to determine why is this so, therefore kindly give me list of some medicines which can reduce my burning sensation and also a reason that why this is happening to me?

Thanks for the query.

Toluene inhalation can cause toxicity. It can affect many parts of the body including the airway, lungs, brain etc.You need to be tested for toxic levels of toluene in your blood and also you need MRI of the brain and lung specific anti dotal drug therapy exists.Steroid inhalers may have a role in treatment nowadays.

Before any drugs can be given to you,you need to undergo these tests so that toluene toxicity can be confirmed as the cause of your symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any follow up queries I will be available to answer them.

Is this MRI scan for brain and lungs safe? Because i've undergone a CT Scan twice of my brain when i was at a age of 10-12 years. Can you guide me with the approx price of this scan in India(If you can tell me it would be a great help for me as i am a student and i have to see my budget for this scan).

Thanks for writing again.

MRI is a safe procedure. Only the concerned part of the body is exposed to radiation which is in minimal doses.

The cost is comparative. It depends on the type of machine used, materials used, part of the body scanned etc. It can be anything above Rs 5000 depending on the factors mentioned. These rates can be less in govt approved centers.

You should first see a neurologist and then, if required the scans will be advised to you. It will be much cheaper in govt hospitals.

I hope, this helps.

Wish you good health.

Hello, Doctor!

I have one last question for you - " Can you suggest me with some medicine or any fooding habbit need to be added to my daily life so that i can keep my body cool from inside? And is there any oil or something like that which i can apply on my head to keep it cool (for relaxation of this burning sensation) meanwhile i am looking to go for my MRI and blood test. I can take the blood test in a couple of days but to take a MRI i will have to consult my parents as i am living apart from them for my studies(about 1000 kms away from my home).

Please, doc help me. It's very irritating for me and most of the time i get angry over small issues and i cannot handle any situation in my daily life because of this. Also, right now i am having my final project to be completed in my college so, i have a lot pressure on my mind !

Thanking you,

The source of your symptoms needs to be identified first. If the problem is indeed brain-related then no medicines/oil will help keep you cool from the inside. You can of course apply oil on your head(coconut or hibiscus) to keep your core temp down.
But any 'burning sensation' etc needs to be investigated first.
You need to apply some relatation techniques like meditation/yoga etc to relax your mind.
I think that you should see a neurologist first to undergo a full neurological examination so that a probable diagnosis can be made.Cucumber, karela and daal etc along with nimbu paani/barley water etc can keep your body cool.
