Brief Answer:
its too early to call for HIV.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I have read your query and understand your concern.

You have got upper respiratory tract infection and some skin infections behind the ear but these all are not due to HIV.

HIV do not manifest as infections so early. It takes months to years, depending upon the virulence of the virus and your body's immunity.

You need to show to a physician and start on antibiotics and expectorant.

Regarding the HIV, you can get yourself tested now by an ELISA card test for a base line in a month and get it repeated after 6 months.

Brief Answer:
Chances are very less

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Chances of getting HIV is very less as hair trimmers usually don't cause injury (as compared to razor) and so the previous person getting a cut from it is unlikely. And HIV is still not a common disease in out country. So even if the previous person got a cut, him being positive is rare. And even if he was positive, the transmission rate by this type of injury is less than 1%. So your getting HIV is very rare.

And your shortness of breath is due to respiratory tract infection. Hope you had already started the treatment for it in consultation with a physician.

Dr. Ashish Verma
