Question: Good Evening. My 66, full-of-life, high-energy father has suddenly had a change of behavior for the past month. He is now showing signs of extreme fatigue, a hacking congested-like cough, memory loss, loss of appetite, which has led to him losing weight. He was always up early and busy throughout the day and now he literally sleeps all day. What could possibly be the cause to the change of his behavior?

Brief Answer:
Consult urgently

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Your father is showing symptoms of delirium. This could be result of infection from lungs. He could deteriorate quickly further if medical attention is not sought quickly.
His blood gases have to be checked and appropriate management has to be given immediately. The oxygen supplementation is most likely necessary.

Please visit the Emergency or very urgent appointment with a doctor to monitor the vitals including the blood gases and electrolytes. Do not delay.

Hope I am clear.
