Are Severe Headache, Nausea, Vomiting And Insomnia Withdrawal Symptoms Of Ambien And Klonopin?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Aug 2017
Question: Hello, I've been really ill for the past 48 hours with severe headache, nausea, vomiting, insomnia (no sleep 3 nights in a row), anxiety, chills, no appetite and body aches. Could this be due to me stopping Ambien and Klonopin? I stopped them 2 weeks ago and was using OTC sleep meds in the interim. It was when I stopped the OTC meds that I got sick.

Brief Answer:
This is probably occurring due to withdrawal

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

I can understand your concern. Ambien and Klonopin both are sleep medicines and act on GABA neurotransmitter in brain. Abrupt stoppage after regular use can lead to withdrawal symptoms. You used OTC sleep meds after stopping the drugs so didn't have withdrawal. The symptoms nausea, vomiting, insomnia, headache etc you are having are due to withdrawal only.

For sleep you can use OTC sleep medicines and your symptoms will improve. Reduce the dose of sleep meds gradually and this will not cause withdrawal.

Thanks and Take care
