Are Pain And Swelling In Clitoris After Masturbation A Cause For Concern?

Question: Hi Doctor, For the past two days Ive been masturbating with a shower head. Now my clitoris hurts, I think it's swollen and I feel dull pain in my lower abdomen. Also the arousal feelings are reduced. Have I damaged my clit or G-spot nerves? Or will this just heal? this is my first time masturbating.

Brief Answer:
hot water compresses/sitz bath; analgesic as required.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concerns.

I think the swelling and pain in clitoris is due to masturbating with a shower head.

I donot think there is anything to worry.
This will heal with the time.
You can do hot water compresses/sitz bath.
For pain, you can take tablet ibuprofen.
Avoid masturbating till the swelling subsides.

The arousal feelings will return after the healing is cmoplete.
Do not worry about damage to nerves.

Hope this helps.
Thanks

Thank you doctor for your quick reply! esterday I had sharp stabbing pain from lower abdomen to vagina while at work and so I saw an emergency medic on site. He was male so I couldnt show him but he said there might be some temporary nerve damage and gave me ibuprofens. He did urine test and there was no infection. Today The whole clitoris and urethra area is numb. There also seems to be a stronger smell and some discharge. More than normal. I am getting more worried now. Ive take some photos and uploaded. They are not very clear asI am self taking them. Hope it's helpful to you. It doesnt hurt to touch my clitoris though strangely but I just feel a dull , sometimes sharp pain from my lower abdomen to urethra.. I didnt rub the shower head I just turned it to massage setting and let the water hit my clitoris. I feel like peeing even when I dont need to. Earlier when my bladder was full I used to feel orgasmic, now I feel nothing. Is that fine? Im really worried Ive hurt my nerves. Sorry for the repeat questions. Im on an island in Scotland with not many doctors/clinics around. Thankfully there is internet.
Look forward to your response.

Brief Answer:
images appear to be normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
Sorry for the late response.
I have seen the images and would like to assure you that these appear to be normal.

Don't worry about the clitoral nerve damage because they are internal and deep and you haven't reason they may be damaged.

Sharp lower abdominal pain upto urethra with strong smell vaginal discharge may be due to vaginal infection or bacterial vaginosis.

Take much more fluids and cranberry juice. They may help in your symptoms.

For the clitoral numbness, you can also go for cold compresses.

If the symptoms do not subside in next 3-4 days a vaginal swab will be needed.
If the infection is confirmed, antibiotic drugs would be needed accordingly.

The feeling that you now donot feel orgasmic even with full bladder is more out of worry. This does not indicate nerve damage.

Kindly do not worry.
I hope you should be fine in next 3-4 days.

I wish you well.
Take care.
Thanks.

Thank your detailed response doctor. Actually now the problem is in my urethra. There is pain and I don't have sensation of bladder fullness at all. I sometimes get mild sensation that I need to pee right after I've peed but mainly I have to orde myself to pee. Coul this be because of local injury to the urethra? It will heal on its own?

Brief Answer:
observe symptoms for 2-3 days.

Detailed Answer:
You are most welcome.

Loss of sensation of bladder fullness is usually not due to urethral damage.
I would suggest you to wait for another 2-3 days and observe your symptoms.

As the urethral numbness resolves, you should be able to feel full bladder.
If this loss of feeling of bladder fullness persists, urodynamic study or cystometrogram would be needed to rule out neurogenic bladder (an unlikely possibility).

I feel this is more due anxiety in your case, at present.
Take your pain killers.
Do cold compresses.
I hope you should be fine in another 2-3 days.

I wish you well.
Thanks.
