Question: I am 65years old has extreme hot flashes (my face starts to sweat )then cold flashes a few minutes later ,cold and shivering goosebumps . sometimes have cramping in my stomach. Meds are diclofinac and tramadol sodium

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

There are many pathologies manifested with the symptoms you described. To get a better orientation a detailed clinical examination a more detailed history is needed.
Anyway, the first pathologies to be excluded are;
-High blood pressure; check the blood pressure at the moment you have the hot flashes.
- An overactive thyroid (TSH, FT4 and Ft3 will be helpful to confirm/ rule out)
- A low testosterone level ( check total testosterone in blood).
If the above mentioned pathologies are excluded than neuroendocrine tumors will be the next to rule out.
Discuss with your physician about the above mentioned pathologies and do not hesitate to ask if you need further opinion.
