Are Excessive Sweating, Fatigue And Back Pain Side Effects Of Duloxetine?

Posted on Tue, 6 Oct 2015
Question: i am taking DULOXETINE DR 60mg 1 per day. I've taken 30mg for 30 days and 60 mg for about 45 days. In the last week I have started having extreme sweats with little effort. If I'm inside with ac I'm ok but if I go outside in 80-90 and walk and do some work I become extremely sweaty, to the point I have sweat dripping into my glasses constently. The weather was much hotter the weeks before this, 90's plus and I was not sweating like I am now. When I go to the gym and work out I do not sweat this much on the bike for 25 minutes. Though I have not been to the Gym since last week when this started. Just started going to the gym 6 weeks ago 3x week, Was feeling much better but my back started bothering me. So I was waiting for my back to ease up before going back. So I went back to the gym monday and had to shorten up my workout because of fatigue and minor back pain. Is this a sign of the DULOXETINE NOT WORKING? IS THERE SOME WAY TO RELIEVE THIS SIDE EFFECT? The comments about DULOXETINE ARE VERY NEGATIVE , WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR COMING OFF THIS DRUG? Thank you for your help. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Increased sweating is one of the side effect, subsides in many individual by 15 days

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM

Sorry to hear that you are going through this. But yes, one of the side effects of duloxetine is increased sweating, presently how it causes it is not known, so no drug to address this. In some studies cyproheptidine was tried and was found to be effective, but still it is not approved by FDA.

This side effect does tend to subside within 15 days or so, I would not suggest you to suddenly stop the drug, it is useful if you inform the reason for which it was prescribed, based on that an alternative options can be considered if increased sweating does not subside.

Hope this helped.

Take care
