Are Elevated Bilirubin Levels A Symptom Of Autoimmune Disease?

default

Question: Can you please tell me if elevated bilirubin levels are a sign of autoimmune disease such as hashimotos/hypothyroidism?
My dr wants to repeat liver funtion test in a few weeks instead of trying to treat my various symptoms: exhaustion, inability to lose weight, stiff/sore joints, no libido, history of anxiety/depression, brain fog, lack of appetite, high cholesterol levels, dry skin, to name a few. Never experienced jaundice so that may rule out gilberts syndrome?
Feel like i'm not being listened to when other tests come back "within normal range" with exception to bilirubin and cholesterol.

I'm an active, fit and usually healthy 28 year old female who has been experiencing these symptoms as well as others for years, being told i'm just an anxious person.
Many thanks

please follow the suggetsions below..

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for posting queries on HCM!
I am Dr. Klerida gastroenterologist and I am glad to assist you further.
You are reporting to have elevated bilirubin level, I would like to know wich is the exact your bilirubin level?
High bilirubin level is not related with autoimmune disorders like hashimoto or hypothyroidism.
If the liver panel like AST, ALT, Alkaline phosphatase and GGT are normal than most probably your high bilirubin level is due to XXXXXXX syndrome( even this is the first episode).
With regards to your symptoms, yes I would suggest to check tiroid function test like TSH, T3,T4 and thyroid ultrasound.
Hope it was helpful to you!
