Question: Hi Doctor,
Hi am 25 years old male Civil Engineer employed in gov sector. Since I was young(High school) i used to get headaches and used to stay alone and never shared much with my friends and family. I was shy, much emotional and worried about day to day stuff. I used to prefer to stay alone and tried to keep away from social events. I cant take the things lightly. I find is difficult to choose between the available options. I lack confidence and habitual to cross checking multiples times to make myself sure. After getting job the things become more worse, apart from the aforesaid symptoms my headaches and neck pain frequency increased and started feeling stressed due to work. My palm are always sweaty and I can sense my pulse of my head at 4 -5 locations. I dont feel like doing anything, i feel empty, my heart is heavy and head is always heavy. I have consulted Psychiatrist and he has initially prescribed Pexep CR 12.5 mg for three weeks. I took it for three weeks but It didn't help me as I was getting headaches. Later Psychiatrist prescribed me MigrabetaTR 20 (Morning) + Feliz-S 10mg(Night) for one month. Even after one week this med combination was not working and i was getting headaches. I am finding getting up in the morning very difficult and much worried by general things(Irrational Fears). I know fears are irrational but I cant help that and i get anxious. Then as suggested by my friend as consulted at Neurophysian. He as asked me to continue MigrabetaTR 20 + Feliz-S 10mg and additionally he prescribed DIVAA OD 250 (Night), Gabapin 100(Night) and Naxdom (If i get headaches). I am finding it difficult to cope up with stress and thinking of quitting job. My mom also have some psychological problems. Am suffering from Depression and General Anxiety Disorder. Is depression and GSD curable? how long(min & max) will it take. I am much worried about my future. Please suggest

Brief Answer:
It is treatable

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

First of all I feel you have GAD and because of long term negligence it has given depression. So it can be said that currently you are suffering with GAD and secondary depression.

Secondly there is no role of DIVAA in treatment of either GAD or depression. The Divaa should be stopped if there is no other indication.

Thirdly medication alone are not enough and you need some psychological support from a psychologist or counselor. This will help you in recovering early and cut short the dosage of medication.

Fourthly it is treatble but not curable completely. If treated properly the medication comes down but majority of patient need some form of treatment for prolonged duration.

In your case I feel two years is the minimum duration of treatment as it remained untreated for long duration(I guess a decade).

I hope this helps you.
Thanks and regards

Brief Answer:
Quitting is not a solution

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

I do not think running away from stress brings down stress level or problems. On the contrary the people who develop coping skills manage their stress better than those who quit.

Remain active to the possible extent and do not allow your brain to focus on troubled areas. It is better to find some hobbies/ personel interests in addition to routine work.

As the attention and concentration are defective due to illness, they respond well to medications. Over time people regain what they lost due to illness.

In addition to routine anti anxiety medications, some other medicines help in activating brain which in turn helps in improving attention and concentration. Few of such medicines are Modafinil and armodafinil.

Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
