Question: Are breast implants toxic? Can they cause illness or release toxins into your system?

there is no known toxicity from silicone gel breast implants

Hi and welcome to HCM. Most breast implants are silicone based and this is material which is not toxic for human body and it does not release any toxic products into blood. What can happen, is infection of implant or surrounding breast tissue and then certain complications may develop. But as I said, there is no proven toxicity so this is a reason why is it used in plastic surgery. Wish you good health. Regards

Saline implants have silicone gel but are filled with saline solution so it is same as silicone when talking about possible toxicity. Saline itself is completely harmless.

So if I have same implants 15 years w no infection or rupture or complications, there is no way it could release anything toxic from the shell inti my system?
