default
Posted on Mon, 17 Aug 2015
Question: I have some pressure on the skull, dizziness and concentration difficulties sometimes and have had tests from my neurologist and they have not found no physical treatable condition causing this and have put me on an antidepressant. Is there an alternative? As I have dizziness from medications as well. The prescription is escitalopram 10mg. I would like to find a cause and a treatment for this condition. Can you cure this condition thru treating depression?

Brief Answer:
Different option

Detailed Answer:
hi.
I have read your message.
I think I can help you.
I agree with the diagnosis made by your physician.
However, I do not agree with the line of treatment.
Antidepressants are a short cut.
The ideal technique is psychotherapy.
You should meet a good psychologist for the same.
They are different from the psychiatry specialists. so be careful about that.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.

I have trouble traveling to appointments depending on my current symptoms at those times and I live alone so there is no convenient method to travel whenever. Can this condition be successfully treated or substantially improved on by using the antidepressant treatment? Is there a typical timeframe for this to improve the life style?

Thanks for your help and efforts in this regard.

Brief Answer:
Antidepressants take time

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Antidepressants do take time to do the job.
Besides , you need to be taking the correct dose.
unfortunately, the dose has to be individualised.
So it may take longer.
If possible find someone who can come home for sessions.
