Are STD Tests Required After A Polyp-removal Procedure?

default
Posted on Fri, 10 Nov 2017
Question: Hi, I'm seeing an OBGYN after having been in the ER over the weekend for post menopausal extreme bleeding. The doctor removed a polyp...said my ovaries looked good, but WHY are they testing me for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea when I am a 65 year old married woman who hasn't had sexual relations in over 13 years, since my husband had a stroke 13 years ago and lost his libido. Yes, I have bacteria present in my uterus and vaginal area, but why test me for STDs?
