Am I Protected Against Pregnancy Inspite Of Having Wrong Set Of Birth Control Pills?

Posted on Thu, 15 Oct 2015
Question: Hi, I have accidentally taken the wrong colour logynon tablets. When I finished my period (on the white tablets), I accidentally stated taking the light brown tablets (the second row). I have been taking them for 6 days. Am I protected?

Brief Answer:
Not fully protected.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Logynon is a triphasic pill. After 7 days pill free period you should start the tablets in the order mentioned to be protected against pregnancy. If you started with the light brown tablets wrongly then you can continue taking the rest of the pills in order and have your period 7 days earlier. Discard the pills that you forgot to take. It is better to use condoms also in this cycle.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.

Thank you. I had sex on the Saturday after my period finished. Day 6 of my cycle. It was that day I began taking the wrong pills. I'm now worried that I wasn't fully protected. Should this be a risk?

Brief Answer:
Risk is less than 10%.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Since you had an unprotected sex while taking wrong pills the chances of conception are there but are less than 10%. It is now best to continue with the rest of the pills and have an early period.
Hope my answer is helpful.
