Doctor :   Hi
User :   hi
Doctor :
How can i help you?
User :   ive had a bad constant headache with no nasal stuffiness but a low grade fever of 99.8 to 100 only in the evenings and stiff neck and body aches?
Doctor :
User :   ive been on and off antibiodics and i felt good no headaches but as soon as im done with them i feel horrible again?
Doctor :
User :   3 courses of amoxicillian since july
Doctor :
User :   any ideas?
Doctor :   is your headache because of sinusitis?

User :   i have post nasal drip at night but no stuffiness, pain in my frontal sinuses
Doctor :
was any investigation done?

User :   ok i paid and im back are you still hre
Doctor :   hi
Doctor :   yes

Doctor :   was any investigation done?
User :   after the third doc visit they just put me on amoxi/clav 875 twice a day
Doctor :   ok
User :   they thought maybe the amoxicilian 1500mg a day wasnt working
Doctor :   amox is antibiotic, given to treat infection

User :   yep
Doctor :
you have frontal sinus pain
Doctor :
and post nasal drip
Doctor :
indicating sinus etiology
User :   right behind the eyes, and in the eyebrow area sometimes my eyes are puffy when i wake up
User :   in the am
Doctor :   ok

User :   post nasal drip only at night when i sleep probably why i have a sore throat in the am
User :   but if i have sinus issues shouldnt i have a stuffy nose with discharge?
Doctor :   need not be
Doctor :
cos it depends on which sinus is affected?
User :   by the eyebrows is it the frontal sinus right?
Doctor :   yeah
User :   why wouldnt 3 rounds of antibodics work?
User :   its just hard for me to make a doc appt when i dont have phsyical syptoms they can see
Doctor :   sinuses are hollow spaces in the skull bone. the blood supply is not that great
Doctor :
so the availability of the antibiotica at the sinuses is low
User :   they tend to just blow you off...hense the heres the antibodics for the 3rd time in a row
User :   can you have a sinus infection with a low grade fever only in the evening? and the body aches?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :
it can happen
Doctor :
it is a chronic sinusitis
User :   in the past sudefed works but it does nothing anymore...
User :   can it make your neck stiff too?
Doctor :   yes the chronic sinusitis can result in stiff neck

Doctor :   it is very clear from your history that the headache and prostration is because of sinusitis
Doctor :
why dont you go for a defenitive treatment
User :   im trying to finish my last semester of nursing school and having aches and a constant headache with pain is too much :)
User :   even with no visible symptoms?
Doctor :   ok

Doctor :
constant headache is a serious symptom right
User :   yep
Doctor :
it needs an evulation of the sinuses
User :   point taken...they say the medical profession is the worst patient
User :   thanks for your advice... i will try to make an appointment and will make them evaluate the sinuses instead of sending me out the door withe more antibidoics, what is a normal treatment for this type of chronic sinusits?
User :   just so i can go prepared
Doctor :   you need an invistegation of sinuses
Doctor :   it will be the ct scan of sinuses called PNS view
User :   ok
Doctor :
also ct of brain may also be required
User :   im just afraid nothing will show up and then im stuck with a constant headache and bodaches...
Doctor :   ct will show the inflamed sinuses mucosa and the sinus which is responsible for the constant headache

User :   interesting...
Doctor :   than a decision is made o hoe to proceed
Doctor :   mostly an operative procedure is performed to clear the infected sinus mucosa and to facilitate the drainage of sinuses
User :   maybe it is a sinus thing since food tastes weird and i have no appetite, sometimes it tastes like metal..
Doctor :
you have the post nasal drip
User :   i can tilt my head back and it drains
User :   sometimes it tastes bloody..
Doctor :
it is the infected material in the sinus
Doctor :
this needs to be cleared
Doctor :
so most probably you may require surgical intervention
User :   if it makes the headache go away i welcome it :)
User :   like a pimple being popped relief
User :   lol
Doctor :   now the indication for higher investigation and surgery is because of this headache
User :   yea i agree it makes my eyes water it hurts so bad and it makes me nauseas
User :   i cant spell that word
Doctor :
ya i know it is nausea. the bad taste of post nasal drip is causing you this
User :   yea its more quick question woudl any of this have to do with the feeling of the back of my neck feeling sunburnt? its a weird feeling...
User :   its not sunburnt
Doctor :
yes the constant drip when you place your head in a particular position is making you to hold your head
Doctor :
in such a position that you avoid the nasal drip
Doctor :   this is putting pressure on neck muscles
Doctor :
which is why you have neck strain and back and body ache
User :   and joint pain?
User :   interesting never thought of that one... good one doctor :)
Doctor :   even joints also are strained
User :   hmm...
User :   well i think i will try and get in next week..
User :   thanks so much for your help and answering my many many questions..
User :   i really appreicate it!
