Doctor :   Hi please proceed with your query
User :   Hello
User :   I would like to know if coughing up yellow mucus 7 days after a sexual encounter is considered an Acute Retroviral Syndrome of HIV
Doctor :   Its less likely to consider it to be ARS , unless you have other symptoms like sorethroat, joint pains, muscle pains, fever , cold etc
User :   I have no other symptoms. All we did was deep kissing and he performed oral sex on me
Doctor :   Ok, then ARS could not be a chance here
User :   Is 7 days too early for ARS? Is it possible I may have caught an infection from smoking?
User :   Should I get tested for HIV or other STDS?
Doctor :   Yes. i agree 7 days is too early for ARS to develop,
Doctor :   May i know since when do you smoke and how many per day ?
User :   7 years and almost a pack a day..
Doctor :   ok, then , it could be considered that the yellow sputum and the throat inflammation you ha due to smoking
User :   I have two final questions please before I leave, 1) ARS symptoms are not isolated, is that correct? 2) Should I get tested for HIV considered my encounter?
Doctor :   Yes, the symptoms are not isolated .
Doctor :   If that is the only encounter you had since then , then i would see no need for a test
User :   That was my only encounter since December
Doctor :   Ok,
Doctor :   Then i think you need no testing
User :   Ok thank you doctor. Is it possible i may contracted an STD due to this symptom?
User :   Or should I just wait it out and use salt and water?
Doctor :   Not likely , as most of STDs will present with lesions in the oral cavity or th genitalia
Doctor :   Are you there ?
User :   Yes im waiting on a response
Doctor :   yes salt water will help ,
Doctor :   Or you can gargle with Chlorhexidine solution , which will prevent further infections
User :   ok thank you very much for your help. I shall do that
Doctor :   You are welcome
Doctor :   kindly delete the previous chat account and the feedback
User :   Just for my own knowledge, when does ARS usually start at the earliest?
Doctor :   3 weeks is the minimum time needed for ARS to develop
User :   Ok thank you. have a nice day
