User:Hello doctor
Doctor:How can I help?
User:i had some queries related to my 14 months old baby
Doctor:Please go ahead
User:I have tough time making him sleep
User:rather continuos sleep through night
User:i breast feed the baby
User:he keeps on waking during night and doesnt sleep for continuos strech
User:how do i get him to sleep for continuos strech
User:otherwise his diet etc throughout day is fine..also he is very active
Doctor:The most common reason for this issue is inadequate food before sleeping or some other type of discomfort
User:but only problem is with his night sleep
Doctor:I can tell from his weight
Doctor:If you can tell me his weight
User:his weight is 8.5 kgs
Doctor:ok give me a min
Doctor:Yes as I suspected
Doctor:His weight is at 5th percentile for his age
Doctor:What was his weight at birth?
User:he is always at lower side in gaining weight..his height is increasing but no luck on weight
User:2.5 kgs
User:was his birth weight
Doctor:So he is on the same percentile since birth
Doctor:Have you consulted a dietician for this issue?
User:our pediatrician has examined him and he says everything is fine
Doctor:There are ways of increasing the weight faster
Doctor:Mostly by giving his high calorie diet especially before sleeping
User:please suggest doctor
Doctor:I think if he takes high calorie food before sleeping he will sleep well
Doctor:I will give you a general idea about high calorie food
Doctor:It includes milk products (like cheese, butter, ghee, creamy foods, ice cream, etc)
User:we have prepared a mixture (powder) which contains all types of cereals ,pulses, nuts and some spices
User:we prepare this with milk and ghee and feed him at night
Doctor:Yes it is good idea
User:i had a doubt
Doctor:Mostly I like foods like cake, pastries, icecream, pizza, cheese burger, cheese macaroni etc
User:are these safe for babies?
Doctor:So what you can do is give one bite of traditional food and one bite of high calorie food (maybe icecream)
Doctor:Of course these are safe till rthe kid is grown up
Doctor:Your baby needs lots of calories
Doctor:You can also add cream to the above preparation that you have mentioned
Doctor:Milk shakes are also good
Doctor:keep these foods low in sugar though
Doctor:There are many nice recipes available
Doctor:Also we can check for nutritional deficiencies
Doctor:by getting some blood tests done
User:ok..but his activities are all fine
Doctor:Keep him warm at night
User:he is very active
Doctor:mostly low weight kids are active
Doctor:being active just means that no serious issues
Doctor:Otherwise his weight should be corrected
Doctor:At least he should climb a few percentiles
Doctor:Give him milk only after solid food
User:what about breast milk
Doctor:You cancontinue breast milk
Doctor:No issues
Doctor:Do not give him juices
User:i had a he addicted to breast feed which why he keeps on waking during night
Doctor:Yes kids wake up to take their feeds at night
Doctor:It is normal
Doctor:Even if he was taking bottle milk he would be waking up
Doctor:That is why a hearty meal at night helps
Doctor:then the kids dont wake up often
User:when should i stop the breast feed
Doctor:When your baby gives up
Doctor:Though he can take cow's milk too
Doctor:It is your wish
User:thank you for your suggestions doctor..i will follow them
Doctor:Do you have any question?
