User:I have been facing recurring dislocation of my shoulder for over 2 yrs now. It used to happen when I do someting rigoros with my right hand/shoulder. So I went to a doctor 1 year ago and had a CT taken of my right shoulder.
User:The doctor looked at it and said there were no problems with the joint/socket and I just have to be careful. No treatment or medication was done at the time.
Doctor:ok
User:but for the past few months this has been happening very frequently, even when doing my daily chores. I can hear a pop sound and feel the shoulder coming and and going back in automatically...it is very painful and if such an incident happens, it is very likely to happen in the very next days as well
User:sometimes it happens when I'm wearing or taking off a t shirt, or drying my hair with a towel after bath, or even if I sleep with my hand in an awkward position
User:I had visited a doctor 2 days back. He advised me a surgery is needed and I have an MRI scheduled for tomorrow to see how much damage has been done.
Doctor:I would suggest you go for surgery in your case
Doctor:as the definitive treatment is surgery and is recommended for your case
Doctor:recurretn shoulder dislocation
User:But i would really like to avoid a surgery in the shoulder joint. Are there not any physio exercises which I can do to strengthen my shoulder?
User:If I do surgery, will it have any negative effects later in the future?
Doctor:you can try with physiotherapy, but the improvement depends on the type and extent of injury
Doctor:surgery doesnt have any negative effects generally
Doctor:You can try physiotherapy for 3 months and re assess the situation
Doctor:it case there is no improvement it is better to go for surgery
User:Ok Sir. So I will get the MRI done tomorrow and based on the results check with the doctor if physiotherapy can be recommended.
User:Thank you for your time.
Doctor:yes you can do that
Doctor:no problem
Doctor:Thanks for visiting me here. Bye for now.
