User:i have questions about my scalp and hair thinning and other stuff
Doctor:Sure, please proceed
User:what does it mean when people say scalp thickens and hair start thinning
User:they said the thickness of scalp is 2.5mm around... and if u keep hitting your head with comb, it will become thicker and hair won't be able to grow
User:does it mean my head will look higher?
Doctor:In conditions like seborehiec dermatitis, there is thicking of the scalp, which is due to collection of greasy stuff and fungal growth
Doctor:No, it does not mean the head will look high
User:but when the person said scalp is 2.5mm and if it becomes thicker... - doesn't mean my head will not look high right?
User:whether i loser my hair or whether my scalp becomes weird
User:or whether it goes bald it won't look higher right?
Doctor:No, it does not mean that way
User:so it won't change my height even 1mm?
Doctor:if the scalp, is diseased, then the growth and quality of hair is affected , hence it can become thin and appear lustre less
User:thicker scalp or baldness or whatever doesn't mean my head will look higher and change my height right?
Doctor:no, the height does not change, in such issues ,
User:not even 1mm, right? I don't have to worry right?
Doctor:no, u dont need to worry
User:not even 1mm, right?
Doctor:yes, that is right , the height is not affected nor changed
User:so when they said "thicker and hair starts to lose elasticity and stops growing" means what you just explained above right?
Doctor:yes, that is right
User:If I press my head hard it goes in a bit... a bit soft
User:is that normal?
Doctor:yes, the scalp is composed of soft tissues and a layer of fat, which gives cushioning effect
Doctor:so when you compress it, it will go inside
User:so my head is normal, nothing inside
User:like tumor or something fibrous
Doctor:yes, that is normal , and you dont need to worry about tumors, etc
User:i see
User:thank you so much doctor
User:I know the questions were strange
User:but I was so curious it almost interfered me with other things
Doctor:Unless, you see a elevated lump, on the scalp, which differs from the natural outline , you do not need to worry about tumors
Doctor:you are welcome
User:elevated lump, you can easily tell right?
Doctor:yes, definitely, a elevated lump, should be easily seen separate from the surrounding scalp
User:what if I have one right now?
User:sorry maybe I worry too much unnecessarily all the time
Doctor:Do u feel that you have a separate bump or lump, on your head ?
User:well, if I touch the very middle part of the top of my head it feels its higher than left and right side
User:but that's normal right? cuz it's the very middle part?
Doctor:yes, that is normal
Doctor:thats not a lump
User:ah i see
User:are lumps soft? or hard?
Doctor:yes, they are soft in most cases
User:i see
User:but when you press your head hard and when it goes in a bit, that's normal right?
Doctor:only bony outgrowths are hard
User:bony... haha I guess not
Doctor:yes, that is absolutely normal
User:i see
User:so if my hair is too long - almost to my hips now..
User:and if I can't manage it too well, maybe better to cut it a little?
User:to avoid hair loss?
Doctor:unless the hair at the end is split or appear unnatural, there is no need to cut them, unless, you want to reduce the size
User:i see
Doctor:but, taking good care of the scalp, and avoiding condiitons like dandruff, should be helpful
User:any good shampoo for dandruff?
Doctor:avoiding too much of sun exposure, also should be taken care off
User:oh sun exposure
User:yeah.. i forgot that one
User:anything recommended by dermatologists?
User:cuz I actually have some dandruff
Doctor:You can use Shampoos containing Ketaconazole, FOR DANDRUFF
User:thank you for all your information doctor
