User:Hi Doctor. I'd strep throat about 3 weeks back, i did not want to take any anti-biotics, and i thought it'd go away. But it did not and now i think I've chest infection from it, and there is a chance I've secondary viral infection too
Doctor:Can you explain your symptoms?
Doctor:Was it confirmed to be streptococcal throat infection?
User:I've too much phelgm, not coughing so much, and most of the times blocked nostrils
User:not running nose though
User:and since last couple of days having minor aches in the head, and a little in the back
User:i should also tell you that the strep throat was from a pool, and I've a history of asthymatic bronchitis and rhinitis
Doctor:When you say phelgm do you mean secretions in the throat?\
User:yes sir
User:phlegm, sorry
Doctor:Can you explain what you meant by strep throat - do you mean it was throat irritation
Doctor:or a doctor confirmed it to be streptococcal infection?
User:nobody confirmed the infection, but i assumed it to be. Sorry
Doctor:With blocked nose, throat secretions and irritation, what other symptoms you have?
Doctor:Do you have pain while swallowing?
Doctor:Are you running fever?
User:not now, but 2 weeks back i did
Doctor:* I noted you also have headache and pain in the back.
User:minor pains only started yesterday
Doctor:Since how long have you been dealing with these symptoms now?
Doctor:Did the symptoms start after swimming at a pool?
User:Give me a minute doctor, and I'll make a date-wise chart of symptoms. It will help in your diagnosis
User:yes sir
Doctor:I think I have formulated a diagnosis based on what you described.
Doctor:However please give me the data and we can discuss further.
User:12 Jun - joined swimmming - got throat infection from it. There was no other symptom for the next 10 days, only throat irritation and it was a little mucousy 22 Jun - started little coughing and secreting too much mucous 26 Jun - No irritation in the throat anymore but very little coughing, phlegm persisted. and now also started having blocked nose 5 Jul - Started having a light head-ache 7 Jul - started having minor pain in the back
Doctor:Let me brief you now.
Doctor:Based on the details provided, your predominant symptoms have been throat secretions.
Doctor:You also have had throat irritation and very little cough along with it.
Doctor:It has progressed to cause headache now.
User:Correct Doctor
Doctor:There is no mention about fever here.
Doctor:in the later stages.
Doctor:That suggests no active infection now.
Doctor:This description goes in line with sinusitis.
Doctor:Sinusitis causes blocked nostril sensation,
Doctor:these secretions can get into the throat through post nasal drip leading to throat irritation and phlegm formation.
Doctor:It can trickled down into the lungs leading to cough.
Doctor:Since you have no fever, you can start the treatment with steam inhalation.
Doctor:Inhale steam vapour three or four times a day.
Doctor:You can add contents of Karvol plus capsule into the warm water before starting inhaling for better effectiveness.
Doctor:Are you following?
User:I do sir
User:Also, since I've a history of allergies, do you want me to take anti-histamines along with it
Doctor:Other measures that I suggest are:
Doctor:1. Nasal decongestant drops or spray such as otrivin twice a day for not more than 5 days.
Doctor:2. You can also take antihistamines that you used to take earlier.
Doctor:With these measures, watch the progress of symptoms.
Doctor:If headaches start to worsen or if you develop high grade fever
Doctor:you should see a doctor.
Doctor:who can perform clinical examination and X-ray before suggesting other treatment.
User:got it.
Doctor:Have you followed?
Doctor:Do you have any more queries?
User:As of now, just to be clear, you do not want me to take any anti-biotics
Doctor:No fever, so no antibiotics yet.
Doctor:Any more questions?
User:Thank you very much Doctor. Have a great day!
Doctor:Thanks for visiting me here. Bye for now.
