User:My hands are very itchy - I have itchy lumps in my head and they follow down the back of my neck, I have hive like welts on my body and a heap of itcy lumps in the centre above my buttocks (like in like with my spine). My toes are itchy too. My blood pressure is 163/82. Started to notice it about 24 hours ago but in last 8 hours the hives and itch is a lot worse.
Doctor:I am Dr. XXXXXXX
Doctor:I have gone through your question and I strongly suspect you are having an acute allergic reaction to something
Doctor:It will be best if you could visit an ER to get yourself examined
User:but the lumps in the head have been there for a few days now
Doctor:Oh.. okay
Doctor:You mentioned in your question that the itching started only 24 hours ago
Doctor:So, I think you are having an allergic reaction and the lumps may be a different issue
User:yes only started itching but I can remberer a few lumps in head before - but not very itcy
User:the blood pressure is very high is that just because I am upset with being itcy
Doctor:blood pressure can rise if you are upset and also in allergic reactions
User:can not think of anything that would have brought on a reaction
Doctor:It could be anything, it is hard to identify in retrospect
Doctor:I would recommend you visiting an ER at the earliest as you might need an injection or two for the itching
User:just sometimes (I do not drink wine very often) but I can get a reaction with red marks on my face, around eyes - had a glass of wine (only drank half) 2 nights ago for a celebration dinner and had a reaction. I had put it down to preservitives.
Doctor:Hmmm, it is possible
Doctor:occasionally wine can cause some reactions
User:what can I do until the doctors open to calm down the itchying, especially the hands.
Doctor:You can take Benadryl one tablet now
Doctor:that would reduce the itching
User:I don't have any antihistimines - anything else
Doctor:I am sorry, other things don't help much
Doctor:you can apply Calamine lotion
Doctor:Only things that work in itching/allergy are steroids or antihistamines
User:I have some of that so will do that until doctors
User:thank you and goodbye
Doctor:You are welcome
Doctor:Thanks for using the service
Doctor:take care and all the best
