User:I have had a feeling of fluid in my middle ear and had a tube put in last year. It is no help for drainage. I have pressure and is very painful about three time per week. Have tried nasal steroid spray, antibiotics, antihistamines and steroid shot. Hot water bottle heat helps. It feels numb at time and my hearing is dull. One doctor wanted to do surgery to open up passage from broken nose, but I have not had a broken nose?!
User:Thank you. Do you need more information?
Doctor:I have gone through your question and I suspect you might be suffering from a closed eustachian tube
Doctor:can you tell me how long this has been going on?
User:Over a year and I did see a very good Ear Specialist. She did the allergy tests and thought it could be a dust allergy and wanted to do shots. I think it is more than a dust allergy. It is pressure and hurts like heck somedays. Is the stint procedure an answer?
Doctor:As you have already undergone a surgery to put a gromet(Tube) to drain out the fluid, there are no chances of fluid being there still
Doctor:Stent may not be an answer
Doctor:the problem I see is, there is no actual diagnosis made
User:And if you were me what direction should I head for relief?
Doctor:first of all we need to identify the cause for all this
Doctor:that means looking inside your ear directly with an otoscope
Doctor:and doing some imaging tests like MRI or CT scan of the ear and paranasal sinuses
Doctor:and eustachian tube
Doctor:once we find the exact cause, such as a glomus tumor or something else
Doctor:removing that underlying cause will cure you of the problem
User:Should I go get the MRI or CT?
Doctor:MRI will be better
Doctor:Ask your ENT doctor to request the relevant scan
User:OK, thanks!
Doctor:Once that is done, we can go forward in treating the problem
Doctor:is there anything else I can help you with?
User:No sir, I really appreciate your help. Good job! Thank you!
Doctor:Thank you for using our services
Doctor:it was my pleasure to answer your questions
Doctor:have a great day ahead
Doctor:take care
User:Thanks! Good bye.
