User:Just had a coughing fit which led to me fainting and falling off chair to floor. Banged head on way but that not problem. Now have slight blurred vision in right side eye on right side half of eye
User:Vision is clearing
Doctor:Hi, ouch
Doctor:sorry to hear about your fall
Doctor:Have you put some ice on it?
User:Not needed. LOL
Doctor:OK. How may I help you?
User:more worried about fainting after coughing
User:started coughing, next thing I was lying on floor with blurred vision
User:banged head on desk on way down but not badly so not worried about that
Doctor:Coughing fits can very commonly lead to fainting.
User:first time ever happened to me
Doctor:What's causing your cough? Do you have a cold?
User:blurred vision in right eye is clearing now
User:Got a bad chest at moment and smoking doesn't help
Doctor:Ok. And how are you treating that?
User:Nothing
User:Just staying warm inside
Doctor:Hmmm
Doctor:have you had a fever?
User:fainting was scary though as never happened before. When I realised I was on floor tried to get up and couldn't for a few seconds and felt very very light headed
User:No fever
Doctor:OK. Well. It sounds like bronchitis
Doctor:Now as far as the coughing fit. Whenever you cough.. you are increasing the pressure in your lung and decreasing the output from the heart
Doctor:So, that can lead many people to pass out from a cough fit
Doctor:its actually a defensive mechanism
Doctor:The body wants to make sure that blood continues flowing to the brain
User:So nothing to worry about then
Doctor:The fainting itself is not a worry
Doctor:But i would really be happy if you got that cough looked at by your primary doctor
User:OK, thanks. I was worried as it has never happened before. I am usually very robust
Doctor:Well, the cold and the chronic cough may be taking it's toll. Drink plenty of warm fluids if you can
User:OK, anything else before I go.
Doctor:If that cough lasts more than another week, it's probably an infection and you need antibiotics
Doctor:Anything else I can help you with?
