User:I have an ENT query....
User:Hi Doc!
Doctor:Proceed with your query.
User:over the last 3 days, there is a watery discharge from my left nostril, if/when I bend my head at 90 degrees
User:this happens only when i bend my head
User:it's a colorless, odurless liquid
User:initiatially i thot it was a result of the cold i had last week...but the cold is long gone...
Doctor:Do you have headache?
User:mild headache last week
Doctor:Is your nose congested/blocked too?
User:not so much this week
User:not anymore
User:it was blocked last week
User:last 3 days it's been clear
Doctor:Are you having sorethroat, secretions dribbling behind in your throat (post nasal drip) too?
Doctor:Do you have generalised body ache, weakness, fatigue, reduced appetite, tastelessness?
Doctor:Are you there?
User:no sorethroat or secretions now
User:last week the body ache was very bad
User:it's much lesser now
User:yeah a bit fatigued, not too hungry
Doctor:May I know your age?
Doctor:Do you have history of diabetes?
User:i have insulin resistance
Doctor:Let me brief you.
User:and Dermatography (pressure urtricaria), we never got to know the trigger
Doctor:The symptoms you describe is suggestive of upper respiratory problem most likely located in the sinus.
Doctor:The cause could be one of the 3:
Doctor:1. It might be an allergic response - allergies to dust and dry conditions.
Doctor:2. Recurrence of infection. The infection you had last week may have recurred again.
Doctor:3. Persistence of earlier infection and which has aggravated now.
Doctor:What ever the cause may be, the best treatment for now
Doctor:will be "steam inhalation"
User:i read about 'CSF Rhinorrea' on the net....
User:sorry, Google was accessible at home yesterday!
Doctor:Steam inhalation using XXXXXXX warm water thrice a day will reduce the symptoms.
User:ok, I will do that
User:thank you so much!
Doctor:CSF rhinorrhea is a condition where there is leakage of CSF fluid.
Doctor:This occurs following severe trauma
Doctor:or head injury.
User:trauma as in physical trauma right?
Doctor:yes, if there is no trauma resulting in nasal bone fracture, it is unlikely that you have CSF rhinorrhea.
Doctor:So do not worry.
Doctor:Consider using steam inhalation.
User:thank you so much!
Doctor:you can also use antihistamines such as cetrizine and watch for the progress of symptoms.
Doctor:If you again develop symptoms of infection again, report back to your doctor.
User:sure, will do, thank you!
Doctor:Do you have any other query?
Doctor:Are you there?
User:no other query...thank you Dr Prasad!
Doctor:You are welcome.
Doctor:Thanks for consulting me
Doctor:Bye for now.
