User :   Hello Dr.
User :   I have been suffering from dry cough for the last 2 weeks.
User :   Prior to this, I had fever/cold for the same duration but that seems to have passed.
Doctor :   ok, did you had body or join pains during the fever ?
User :   I just wanted to know if taking a regular cough syrup will do or if i should go in for an examinaton
User :   no joint pains.
Doctor :   May i know what medications are you on ?
User :   Im just taking cough syrup (Benadryl)
User :   but that doesn't seem to be effective
Doctor :   ok, i think what you have is a viral fever
Doctor :   symptomatic treatment would be the best way to combat illness
User :   as i mentioned earlier, the fever stopped a few days back. It's just the cough that is persisting.
Doctor :   take tab ACTIFED once in night for 5 days after food it will help
Doctor :   yes, i get it , viral fevers do present this way
Doctor :   its the throat becoming sensitive and producing cough
User :   I shall take Actifed as adviced. Do i need a prescription for that?
Doctor :   no,its an OTC
Doctor :   also gargle with CHLORHEXDINE solution , it will prevent secondary bacterial infections
