Doctor :   i think we need time.

Doctor :   it takes shorter time
Doctor :   it depends on how long you have been on them or if it was estrogen progesterone combination
Doctor :   it generally takes 3 weeks to 3 months
Doctor :   for the drug to get eliminated in the body.
Doctor :   However, your ovulation will resume in the subsequent months.
Doctor :   are you there with me?
User :   Okay, thats the thing,
Doctor :   yes.
User :   I have not had a period for almost a year. So I was assuming it was because of the birth control
User :   I thought it was because of weight, so thats why I am trying to lose weight
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   have you got this evaluated?
Doctor :   generally pills affect the hormone pattern
Doctor :   with in 4 to 6 weeks after stopping oc pils one may get normal cycles
Doctor :   but one year of not having cycles needs to be evaluated.
User :   Yes, everytime they tell me that all my hormone levels are normal, and I should have my regular cycle. But I havent.
Doctor :   have you got any scan done?
User :   No, whats a scan?
Doctor :   an Ultrasound examination/sonography
Doctor :   to see the abdomen and pelvis.
User :   Yes, they told me everything was fine\
Doctor :   generally this happens due to hormone changes, conditions like cysts in ovary are very common
Doctor :   which may need a ultrasound
Doctor :   ok thats good.
User :   We want a baby, so we are trying to figure out whats the hold up.
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   were your menstrual cycles regular from before?
User :   Yep.
Doctor :   and what about the flow? and for how many days?
User :   7-10, light and heavy
Doctor :   not having cycles could mean secondary ammenorrhea
Doctor :   there are many causes for the same
Doctor :   just to meantion hormonal problems, thyroid, pituitary levels, any illness, stress, pelvic infections, adhesions
Doctor :   may all be the reasons.
Doctor :   even birth control pills.
User :   So, what can I do? Nothing just wait?
Doctor :   It has to be taken further.
Doctor :   when were your last tests done?
User :   October 2010
Doctor :   and could you tell me what were the tests done till now?
Doctor :   are you with me?
User :   I did blood work, she did a pelvic exam, and she checked my hormone levels, estrogen, and some other stuff. I don't remeber it all. But when we were done, she told me that I was very fertile, and my hormones, and stuff were all normal and I shouldn't have any problems
Doctor :   This is fine.
Doctor :   since you have had the right tests done
Doctor :   and also an examination
Doctor :   it is good to know everything isnormal.
Doctor :   the cause could be over weight also.
Doctor :   since you have consulted the doctor , I would also suggest you to wait.
User :   Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
Doctor :   generally weight gain/loss
Doctor :   causes this problem.
Doctor :   even vigorous exercise could be an issue.
Doctor :   have you done a thyroid function test?
Doctor :   if you could remeber?
Doctor :   recollect?
User :   Yes, my thyroid was fine. Could my husband being diabetic contribute tot the problem?
Doctor :   Yes, generally the partner must also be evaluated.
Doctor :   for the counts, and other conditions.
User :   We are still waiting for the results for his sperm count
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   you could get back to us with them or consult your doctor too with his reports.
Doctor :   are there any other questions?
User :   No.
Doctor :   did you follow what i suggested?
Doctor :   try to lose weight
Doctor :   but be cautious not to go in for vigorous exercise.
User :   Yes, I will get the cream, and thank you, and watch my weight.
Doctor :   mean time the infection you have now will also resolve.
Doctor :   sure.that would be good.
