Doctor :   A tumor marker is a substance that is found in the blood, urine, or body tissues that can be elevated in case of cancer, among other tissue types.
Doctor :   There are many different tumor markers, each type is indicative of a particular presence of cancer
User :   Is it a specific type of tumor in a specific place, or a nonspecific test which an elevation which means you have to go looking for the site?
Doctor :   these are protein in nature that are produced by the body in response to cancer growth or by the cancer tissue itself
Doctor :   yes, each one is different
User :   ok..same question. does the eevation indicate the origin of the tumor

Doctor :   along with pancreatic ca
Doctor :   something similar to it, but not exactly the same
User :   But are the tumor maker tests specific for each organ, or is it 1 specific blod test that will pinpoint a tumor in a specific organ?
Doctor :   yes, they willvary for each tissue type, like for eg: for prostae, there is PSA, for ovarian ca there is CA 125, for colon ca there is CA 19-9 etc
User :   what is it for uterus and pancreas
Doctor :   for pancreas it is CA 19-9, same as colon ca
Doctor :   and for uterus it can vary depending on cell type.
User :   what would i ask for
Doctor :   you just need to ask for tumor markers to rule out pancreatic and uterine CA, they will prescribe you what you need to do.
