User :   Hello Doctor
User :   I have a question regarding my son
Doctor :   Hello,Good evening
User :   He is 1yr and 8m old
User :   boy
Doctor :   Please proceed with your query
User :   His physical growth has not been normal right from birth
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Please go ahead
User :   His food intake was less right from start and also my wife could breastfeed him only for 6 months
Doctor :   ok, May I know his weight and height?
User :   Let me get that information for you
Doctor :   I understand
Doctor :   Ok, I shall wait
User :   Unable to get the height info but his weight is 9.5kgs
User :   From what I understand from a growth table he is at the border line
User :   maybe slightly below as well
Doctor :   Ok
User :   He is active and a very normal child otherwise
Doctor :   As you said he is underweight definitely
User :   can you please elaborate?
User :   Deworm?
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :   Did you Deworm him?
User :   yes we did...but quite some time back
Doctor :   Did you give him any medicine to get rid of worms from his stomach?
User :   if you can recommend some medicine...we will try that out again
Doctor :   Children in his age usually carry roundworms in their stomach as they play a lot.
User :   also it would be great if you could please let me know the ofter should we be giving
Doctor :   Give him the Deworming medicine again.
Doctor :   You can give him Syrup. Mebendazole 10 ml at once at bedtime after food.
Doctor :   Repeat it every 6 months
User :   We are little worried about his physical growth...hence started giving him Pediasure
Doctor :   You can make him eat more by giving him more of the foods that he likes
User :   but compared to my elder son, his physical growth has been slow...I understand they are different
Doctor :   You actually need not worry and Pediasure and other commercially available food supplements does not really help.
User :   His food intake is relatively quite less when compared to his age group kids
Doctor :   He will catch up with the growth eventually, do not worry
User :   do you think this is something to do with his digestion?
User :   or maybe apetite?
Doctor :   Give him lot of vegetables to Eat
Doctor :   Each kid is different in their eating and food habits.
Doctor :   Nothing serious to be worried about.
Doctor :   Make sure he eats regularly and on time
User :   Initially we thought he would catch up in the second year but still do not see much progress...hence the worry
Doctor :   Give snacks in between,Kids love them
User :   We give him breakfast, snack, lunch, fruit/juice/milk, dinner, milk
Doctor :   You can take him once to a pediatrician for general health check up to rule out any cause
User :   In a recent visit to our regular pediatrician...he said, everything is fine except for his growth which is slow but also added not to worry...he will catch up
Doctor :   That is good, Continue the same
User :   Would you recommend any tests to check his digestion/apetite or you want us to just continue
Doctor :   Exactly, He will be fine. You need not worry then
User :   great! thanks a lot for you advice....really appreciate!
Doctor :   As of now, no tests are required .
User :   logging out.
Doctor :   You can wait for another 6 months
User :   Bye
Doctor :   Thanks you too.
Doctor :   Is there anything else I may help you with?
Doctor :   Bye for now
