User :   Before we knew that my husband had TC, his tumor ruptured and we were intimate with the thought of relieving some of the pain and swelling thinking that it could be a "back-up" of semen (as he had had occasionally since his vasectomy). My concern is for myself wondering if the cancer cells from the ruptured tumor could have been in his semen. He had both seminoma and teratoma in the tumor. He has had both chemo and Bilateral RPLND.
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :
User :   hi
User :   is there anyone online with a testicular cancer specialty?
Doctor :   No , only general practitioners will be available online , We do have other services where you can ask for a specialist opinion on your query via mail or phone
User :   what do you think?
Doctor :   No , there is no chance of spreading the cancer through semen
Doctor :   was the rupture of the tumor cyst confirmed by scan ?
User :   it was removed
User :   they could tell
User :   how can you say that 100%?
User :   that there's no chance
Doctor :   because once the cancer cells are devoid of blood supply they die and disintegrate
User :   but the cancer spread after that to his lymph nodes
Doctor :   and that happens through blood or lymph both which nourish the cells
User :   so once it left his body and entered mine the cells would not live? why couldn't they live in my body?
User :   semen does
User :   or sperm
Doctor :   sperm has the ability to draw its nutrition from the semen (prostatic secretions Doctor :   but the cells do not, cells need synapses or gap junctions ( the bonds ) for the nutrient transfer
User :   im sorry to be ignorant. it just scares me. it makes sense, logically, that this could happen
Doctor :   and sperms too cannot live more than two days outside the male body , and they are resistant to acidic secretions of the vagina , but other cells are not
Doctor :   no , i do understand your views but its not that way, there are many other medical facts to consider
User :   thank you
Doctor :   Do not worry
Doctor :   you can ask the same to one of the specialist in our panel
Doctor :   the green pop up in right will guide you how
Doctor :   Are you there ?
Doctor :   I have to close the window as you are not responding. Please chat with our doctors 24/7 for medical querie
