User :   Here are my symptoms and blood test results. Perhaps you can tell me what is happening and if I need further investigation: General fatigue for many months, RDW 16.2, WBC 10.2, MCV 93.1, RBC 4.59, DHEAs 1.8. Ferritin 26, T4 Free 10.3, TSH 1.81. Swollen ankles, and fingers most of the time (on diuretics and high BP medication, BP now stable for many months). I am 48 female, no menapause symptoms yet.
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hi
User :   I don't have long so I need your opinion until the time on this runs out. Thank you in advance for your help
Doctor :   yes, sure i will help you here
Doctor :   i would like to get an CRP test on you
User :   what is that
Doctor :   also serum uric acid levels
User :   Urate is high at 473
Doctor :   C reactive Protein it indicates any kind of auto immune or immune related inflammations
Doctor :   and uric acid because , since the WBC count is more urate levels can be expected more ,
Doctor :   and increased urate levels will surely affect the joint as the urate crystals get deposited in the joints
User :   Thank you. My DHEAs is low and so is my ferritin, I guess I am anaemic despite taking iron supplements regularly and I eat a lot of read meat. I wonder if i have a digestive absorption problem
Doctor :   could be a chance , but Haemoglobin % will be a helping indicator here
User :   normal at 138
User :   I am being tested for celiac
User :   I feel better once I have cut out gluten and lactose
Doctor :   yes, its good to avoid gluten
Doctor :   and lactose to which intolerance can be commonly expected
User :   I wonder if I have pre leukaemia or something like that
User :   my RDW is out of normal range - what can cause that
Doctor :   a bone marrow study will be a gold standard in deciding that
Doctor :   the readings you have do not give much idea about pre leukemia
User :   OK so mor elike anemia
Doctor :   Rdw will be altered in defect in iron levels , and its reversible
User :   I do take my iron with orange juice to increase absorption. What else can I do
Doctor :   yes, more like absorption defct anaemia
User :   What other causes are there for lack of digestion absorption then
User :   Ihave not lost weight - but gained it slowly. I do not smoke, I do not drink
Doctor :   Vit C is the main helper here.. i would suggest you to take Vit C tab as the orange juices during the iron the dose may not provide the amount of Vit c needed
User :   I do take two vit C tablets as well, also 3000 units Vit D (live in Canada). Also a multi vit
Doctor :   also the timing of the iron dosage is important , i would prefer a night dosing as the better one
Doctor :   yes, thts fine then
Doctor :   if not oral you can try parenteral iron too, they are very effective than oral iron preparations
User :   I have struggled to raise my iron levels for three years. I take iron every day and eat a healthy diet rich in iron.I wish i felt more energy to do things then my weight will not be a factor. I am not depressed and am happily married
Doctor :   How about injectable iron preparations ?
Doctor :   Have you tried ever ?
User :   I willneed a Dr to agree to that. What are the side effects? Constipation I guess.....
User :   No I haven't but I have had Vit B12 injections a couple of times
Doctor :   constipation is not serious , the local injection site sideeffects are more
User :   I think I may have adrenal fatigue
Doctor :   But the iron take over is better with injections
User :   This is what my Dr said to me
Doctor :   give it a try
User :   Ok will ask for iron injections. Also should I have Vit B12? I am not low on that though
Doctor :   no , i do not think its a adrenal fatigue , but more of sex hrmone related
Doctor :   sinec age 48 perimenopause can set in any time now
Doctor :   Vit B12 is no harm you can continue on them
User :   Is it a drop in testosterone that causes low DHEAs reading
Doctor :   not likely ,estrogen imbalance can have this effect
User :   I see time is running out. Thaks for your help
User :   Ok
Doctor :   youare welcome
