Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   How can I help you?
User :   hi actually my periods were scheduled on 18nov,i have a history of late periods by 15 to 20 days now i had unprotected sex with my hubby yesterday, should i take ipill as i do not want to get pregnant
Doctor :   Pregnancy following unprotected sexual intercourse depend on the time of ovulation.
User :   how will i know that becauz i have late periods
User :   hello doc are u ther
Doctor :   Ovulation period is calculated by subtracting 14 days from your known previous menstrual cycle.
Doctor :   This method is more useful, if your period had been regular.
Doctor :   But since they are not, and if you are not on any birth control measures,
Doctor :   then I would suggest you to use the ipill.
Doctor :   Followed by another ipill after 24 hours.
Doctor :   This will reduce the chances of pregnancy.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   but i do have all the symptoms of getting the period......
User :   symptoms as in heavy white discharge, breast heaviness....
Doctor :   My suggestions were because your menstrual cycles are not regular.
Doctor :   If there are signs of you getting your periods, then
Doctor :   its not necessary to use the emergency contraceptive.
Doctor :   As the periods will act as a contraception itself.
Doctor :   But if you aren't sure of periods, then, I would suggest you to go ahead with the ipill.
User :   ok thanks doc ,however if i wish to use birth control measures then what should they be???? becauz all the while we were using condoms
Doctor :   Emergency contraceptive pills come in wide variety of brands.
Doctor :   The commonest being I-pill.
Doctor :   You need to take one pill within 36 -72 hours.
Doctor :   a second pill 24 hours later will give additional benefits.
Doctor :   Since contraceptive pills can fail preventing the pregnancy, I would suggest you to use the second pill after 24 hours too.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
User :   yes thanx doc
Doctor :   Do you have any other query?
