Doctor :   hello
Doctor :   How can i help you ?
User :   hello there i just want to double check a prescription my wife was prescribed for
User :   a slight infection of her csection scar -0 operation was 8 days
Doctor :   sure please go ahead
User :   she went to accident and emergency last night with slight bleeding from the wound, and was slightly pink and warm to the touch,
User :   the doctor first of all made a misstake on the priscription i'll later explain
Doctor :   ok
User :   she was prescribed phenoxymethlpenicillin 4 x 250mg to be take for 5 days also she was prescribed
User :   flucloxacillin 250mg to be take 4 times a day for 5 days
User :   does this seem a bit excessive on the amount
User :   oin the precisption she wrote the total amount of pills which didnt colate to what she wrote down the pharmasist sent me back to get them to correct the prescription
Doctor :   so what did the pharmacist told you ?
User :   pharmacist told me the numbers didnt match up on the total amount of pills for example it said 2 x 250mg - sorry made a misstake
User :   sorry dose on both is 2x250mg 4 times a day on both
User :   so basically worked out the total amount on the prescription was worked out as 1 pill to be taken 4 times aday but said 2 to be taken, so the pharmacist need double the pills
User :   so he told me that there was a misstake a get them to correct the amount
Doctor :   i see
Doctor :   yes its one pill 250 mg taken 4 times a day
User :   ah so it is incorrect
Doctor :   let me explain you here
User :   k thanks
User :   so to comfirm it should be 1 x 250mg phenoxymethylpenicillin to be take 4 times a day plus 1 x 250mg flucloxacillin to be taken 4 times a day both on packets say to be taken on an empty stomach
Doctor :   the medication phenoxymethylpenicillin is a antibiotic whose dosage is changed based on the condition and type of infection, for example ..for a condition like rheumatic fever its given 250 mg twice daily... and then you have condition like the infection you wife is having , in that case the usual recommended dosage is ONE 250 mg taken FOUR times a day
Doctor :   make sure you give approx equal gaps in between the medication
Doctor :   gaps of time interval
Doctor :   yes both the medications are to be taken on empty stomach
Doctor :   1 hr before or 2 hr after meals
User :   thanks and the flucloxacilln?
Doctor :   that too on a empty stomach and ONE 250 mg Four times
Doctor :   they can be taken together
User :   also what would of happened if she had followed the prescription of both being 2x250mg 4 times a day
Doctor :   overdose by penicillin are not fatal . we are more concerned by individuals who are allergic to it
User :   thanks very much
Doctor :   Your most welcome
Doctor :   take care
User :   thanks again
Doctor :   Bye Bye
