My elder brother is blessed with a child in 18 July, 10. Now he is 2 and a half month old. Unfortunately he is suffering from respiratory tract infection from last 5 days. Now we are giving him the following medicine: 1 Roxid Syp. as an antibiotic ( sp made for child).Morning and evening--1 ml each
2 Crocin Syp. made sp. for child. 0.6 ml 3 times a day.
3 BroZedex Syrup 0.2ml - 0.6ml 2 times a day.
4. Phenargun Syp if needed.
Please Suggest me is it the right treatment as he is improving but not much. Also he remain in constant sleep all day and if wake up he start weeping with tremendous force (sometimes). It feels the 2 and half months child is in trouble.
Doctor :   hello
Doctor :   i am Dr xxxx here
Doctor :   i am reading your query give me a min
User :   hello
Doctor :   so have you noticed any improvement ?
User :   not much sir. he is improving but always in a sleepy mood. I think if he is getting well he'd come alive. Means laughing and do other things what a child do.....
Doctor :   i can understand your concern
User :   and doctor is the above treatment is good?
Doctor :   look as far as the medications are concern he is being given the right dose and medications
Doctor :   respiratory infections in infants take a longer time as compared to adults as we cannot give the strong medications
User :   ok so where is the problem and what do u suggest? We have started giving him Nestle milk with Whey protein at night ( for less than six month child) for his good sleep. Is it ok?
User :   as u ppl say give only mother's milk and not other thing befor 3 months
Doctor :   there is no harm in it
Doctor :   and yes mother milk is the bet but there is no hard and fast rule
User :   ok... so what do u suggest now?
Doctor :   ok as fas as the medications are concerned let it go on as they ware with proper course
User :   why is he in sleepy mode always?
Doctor :   is he crying a lot ?
User :   not much if he cry I take him to another room for fresh air and start brisk walkin or u can say slow running and then he stop crying....
User :   he does lot of urination...
Doctor :   The best preventive measure is practicing good hygiene. A sick child and the people in the household should wash their hands frequently. In general, the more intimate physical contact (such as hugging, snuggling, or bed sharing) that takes place with an ill child, the greater the risk of spreading the infection to other family members.
Doctor :   Antibiotics are not necessary to treat viral respiratory tract infections. Children with respiratory tract infections need additional rest and should maintain normal fluid intake
Doctor :   lethargy is common symptom that's why you feel he is sleeping a lot
User :   So it'll go away as soon as he'll get well and wat about lots of urine?
Doctor :   make sure you are feeding him fluids
Doctor :   we cant afford to have him dehydrated
User :   yes we r takin care for the same and giving him milk on very regular basis....
User :   any thing else
Doctor :   rest is ok as he is already taking the antibiotics and it will take time to completely cure
Doctor :   there is nothing to worry about
Doctor :   the medications should be given its complete course
User :   ok doctor....till when
Doctor :   how many days have to pediatrician told about the mediation ?
User :   4 days... n today is the last day
Doctor :   ok now tomorrow you need to take him and if possible another set of tests will be done to see the extent of infection and how much its gone
User :   which test?
Doctor :   urine
Doctor :   also after a physical examination we can find the lungs auscultation is ok
User :   ok..we'll take care... anything else sir
Doctor :   let him sleep and rest
User :   ok...
Doctor :   thats how babies fight the infection
Doctor :   their immune system is low
User :   ok....
Doctor :   that would be all xxxx
Doctor :   your most welcome
Doctor :   take care
Doctor :   goodnight
