Doctor :   How can I help you?
User :   Hello Doctor. May I ask a question related to my daughter?
Doctor :   Please proceed.
User :   Thank you doc. My 5 year old daughter falls sick very very often. say atleast twice a month she is down with fever, cough and cold
Doctor :   Ok'
User :   she is 16kg at 5 years. is that normal weight for 5 year old child?
User :   how to build up her immunity so that she is healthy and gains weight.
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   Can you briefly describe her nutritional state?
User :   we are mostly non vegetarians. thats my concern that inspite of having a protein rich diet she falls sick very often.
Doctor :   Has she been completely immunised?
User :   yes fully
Doctor :   Ok
Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   Infections are common in children. Immunity gradually improves with growth.
Doctor :   This is a concerning issue, if there are associated features like
Doctor :   refusal to eat, inadequate growth (both in height and weight).
User :   alright. she eats when she is hungry. plus she has a good height.
Doctor :   A normal weight for a 5 year old will be between 16 to 24 kgs depending on the height.
Doctor :   Since, she is eating well, growth is sufficient, and you have immunized her adequately.
User :   alright doctor. so weight is also within normal range. so i guess its just infections she carries from school.
Doctor :   you need not concern.
User :   alright doc . thank you.
Doctor :   I will also suggest you these measures
Doctor :   1. Include plenty of vegetables, and fruits in her diet.
User :   ok
Doctor :   2. Restrict use of ice cold products as it can precipitate symptoms of upper respiratory inflammation.
User :   ok
Doctor :   3. Check her weight regularly (probably once in 3 to 6 months time) and report to your doctor if there is doubts regarding her weight gain
Doctor :   4. Frequent and regular deworming measures can also help.
User :   right
Doctor :   5. Early treatment in case there are symptoms of infection will not only prevent complications but also help in maintaining her weight.
Doctor :   Have you followed what I have suggested?
