User :   I am looking for a second opinion regarding, what I believe, is a fungal infection. My physician has prescribed me ketocozonale ointment, but after 4.5 days, I'm not sure whether or not it is effective.
Doctor :   Where is the infection?
Doctor :   What symptoms do you have?
Doctor :   Are you there?
User :   Sorry for the delay in responding.
User :   the infection is in my groin area, under my arms, and mildly above my hip.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   symptoms are red dots. the largest being above my hip, which my family physician suspected could be ringworm. his other thought is eczema.
Doctor :   The fungal infection is very difficult to treat and it requires an extended prescription
Doctor :   Hence you have to wait for 2 to 3 weeks
User :   a prescription beyond ketocozonale?
Doctor :   using the antifungal as per the prescription
Doctor :   Yes there are better antifungals than Ketoconazole
Doctor :   the better the drug, the more severe the side effects
User :   ok. i spoke with my doctor today, and he wanted to consider using a hydrocortosone cream since he thinks there is a possibility it is eczema. i feel strongly that it is fungal.
Doctor :   ok
User :   what are some other antifungals? i took up running within the past month, and with the summer months have been sweating alot, thus, my reason to believe it is fungal.
Doctor :   medicines take their time to act and clear the problem
Doctor :   The more important thing is how you keep yourself
User :   fair enough. my understanding was i should see an improvement in one week.
Doctor :   Sweat is a major ppt factor for fungal and eczematous infectin
Doctor :   Hence after each work out, do not waste time, take a quick shower
Doctor :   and pat the area dry
User :   i usually shower within 30 minutes of running.
Doctor :   apply antifungal
User :   i am taking extra precautions now that i have this nasty infection.
Doctor :   Yes all the areas you mentioned have lot of sweat glands
Doctor :   Wear cotton clotes
Doctor :   and free size
User :   what about your recommendations for shaving? i have the infection under my arm, upper thighs, bikini area.
Doctor :   I do not recommend
Doctor :   Change the clothes twice a day, shower twice a day and dryness is very important
Doctor :   You may use the hair blower to dry these areas
Doctor :   for half a minute
Doctor :   Change your inner garments twice a day, do not wear the undergarments during sleep
Doctor :   Apply ketoconazole according to the prescription
User :   ok. thank you for all of the above advice. i have being doing most of the things you have recommended. but will continue to be a little more attentive.
Doctor :   yes
User :   the rx is to apply 2 x per day, which i usually do after a shower in the morning and again in the evening.
Doctor :   Ok
User :   any other advice you can give me before I log off?
