User :   For the past year I've been suffering from intermittent periods where my heart feels as if it's racing, my entire body feels shaky even though it's not, shortness of breath and horrible nausea. It can last anywhere from a few weeks to over a month and the breaks between it aren't much longer. I've been to the doctor once before about it, but they told me nothing was physically wrong with me and that perhaps it was just anxiety, but for some reason that doesn't sit well with me. I don't feel as if I lead a stressful life and all and don't really feel like I have anything to be anxious about. Honestly, this constant feeling is scaring me. Do you have any other explanations to this besides anxiety? If so, it'd help me so I can suggest it to my own doctor.
Doctor :   Hi
Doctor :   iam.Dr.
Doctor :   Let me read your query
Doctor :   Were your period regular?
Doctor :   Did you do any investigations till now?
User :   Is anyone there?
Doctor :   i mean blood ,ultrasound etc
Doctor :   Are you not receiving my chats
Doctor :   May i know your age, marital status and occupation?
User :   Sorry, no I wasn't. This doesn't seem to be refreshing itself for me. And no. My periods have been very irregular this entire time.
User :   I'm 23, single, and i'm a telecommunications repair tech.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Was it regular before?
User :   Up until the last year, yes. It was like clockwork.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Did you have any life style change recently?
Doctor :   I mean diet,stress or excersise
User :   Not really. I mean I got out of the Navy in september of '08. Would that be something?
Doctor :   Yes
Doctor :   Are you working now?
User :   Yes I am.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Did you undergo any investigations?
User :   Beyond going to the er and telling them about it, no. They just told me it was probably just anxiety... All of my vitals looked normal.
Doctor :   The problem could be because of the hormonal imbalance
Doctor :   Do you have any abdominal pain during periods?
Doctor :   Significant weight gain or weight loss is one of the reasons for irregular periods
Doctor :   If you are a victim of severe emotional stress, then you can possibly experience irregular or missed periods.
Doctor :   if you have any kind of eating disorder, you can certainly experience irregular periods.
Doctor :   Excessive exercising or straining your body also leads to irregular menstrual cycle.
Doctor :   Consuming excessive alcohol can also disturb your hormonal metabolism. As a result, youâ??ll certainly end up with irregular or missed periods.
User :   What would cause that? And I don't understand why my cycle has gone completely whacky. Before now it was always predictable, but now I'll go 2-3 months without it.
Doctor :   Certain uterine abnormalities such as cervical polyps, uterine fibroids and endometriosis (endometriosis symptoms) also lead to irregular periods.
Doctor :   The reasons as i suggested can be many
Doctor :   which can be detected only by a physical examination and investigations
Doctor :   Irregular menstrual periods are usually the result of hormonal signals that have been thrown out of sync
User :   Well I did have a physical but I've had no notifications of anything abnormal.
Doctor :   What about blood investigations?
User :   Is it possible to be stressed without being aware that you're stressed?
Doctor :   yes
Doctor :   Thats why i asked about your life style modification recently
User :   Yes, I had a blood sample taken at my last pap because I notified them of my irregular periods, but I never received news of anything abnormal in the sample.
Doctor :   do you have any other reasons that i had mentioned before like exercise diet etc
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Did you undergo an ultrasound test?
User :   I do exercise less frequently and I suppose the fear of massive weight gain could be an issue. Although I have been eating less.
User :   I haven't had an ultrasound.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   For most women, an irregular period is nothing to be worried about; the majority of women will eventually develop a regular cycle with regular periods.
User :   Well actually, I started out eating less, but started snacking more to combat the nausea
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   When was your last periods?
Doctor :   Depending on the cause of your irregular periods, there may or may not be much you can do about them.
User :   I did not have one last month. The one before that was may 22, which is normal.
Doctor :   f you have only been experiencing irregular periods for a short time (less than 7 months), it is likely that your periods will become regular again on their own.
Doctor :   ok
User :   before that I didn't have one in february. And before that I didn't have one for three months until december.
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   that is irregular
Doctor :   There are some things that you can try to help regulate your hormones like
Doctor :   Reduce your stress levels. Take time to meditate, relax, or just hang out. This may help put your cycle back on track.
Doctor :   Get help for your eating disorder.
Doctor :   Don't over exercise.
Doctor :   etc
Doctor :   And the medical treatment includes hormonal contraceptives and hormonal supplements
Doctor :   Hormonal contraceptives are often used to help regulate menstrual cycles.

Doctor :   Are you back?
User :   yes I am. Give me one minute to read what you wrote
Doctor :   ok
Doctor :   Did you understood what i said?
Doctor :   The possible reasons should be one of them
Doctor :   For which an examination would be required
User :   Okay, well I'll try to do those things. I've been thinking that if I start working out again maybe it'll help and I'll consult my doctor about trying to start taking a contraceptive.
Doctor :   yes good
Doctor :   You will be alright soon
Doctor :   If you can follow that
User :   Well thank you very much for your help.
Doctor :   Is there anything else i can help you with?
User :   Hopefully this will remedy my situation.

User :   No thank you. I believe this is it for now
