User :   why must ophthalmics be sterile and otics do not need to be?
Doctor :   Hi,
User :   hello doctor
Doctor :   I consider it to be better if both be sterile
Doctor :   but still opthalmics are to be strictly sterile as the conjunctiva is very sensitive
Doctor :   when compared to the skin inside the ear
User :   so therefore is the otic drops less strict for sterility?
Doctor :   as is said i consider the need for sterility is for both
Doctor :   just the eyes being more sensitive
Doctor :   doesnt make the ear resistant
User :   so there should be a level of sterility for both eye and ear products
Doctor :   yes,
User :   everything i have read only discusses the eye sterility and not to much about the differences of sterility for ear
Doctor :   yes, i agree
User :   that is why i am on this website ...just for further clarification
Doctor :   but i say better be safe with both
Doctor :   why take chances
Doctor :   as both can be entry points for infection
User :   i agree. My instructor for Pharmacy stated this question as to why are the eye products have more sterility and the ear does not need to be?
Doctor :   the universal consideration is the same , the conjunctive being very sensitive than the skin lining the ear
Doctor :   but a doctors suggestion would be play safe with al
User :   thankyou so much for your time
User :   have a wonderful day
Doctor :   You are welcome
Doctor :   Thanks for consulting me , kindly provide your feedback
