User :   I was assaulted a few days ago and when I was being assaulted I was punched and knee'd in the back of my head. The next day, the back of my head had knots and lumps and was very temder. Also, my neck was stiff. Now, my head is still very tender, but also itches like crazy! It only itches in the area where I was punched and knee'd. What is happening?
Doctor :   Hi,
Doctor :   Did you have any injury over the hit area ?
Doctor :   i meant any abrasion or laceration ?
User :   I can't really see because it is on the back of my head and I have very thick hair. I am going to assume that it is bruised since that is how it feels.
Doctor :   yes, a bruise or a abrasion involves inflammation or new skin formation which can cause itching
Doctor :   Did you have vomiting after the assault ?
User :   No. The assault happened on Sunday morning and Monday at work I was quite light headed and dizzy. Also the itching!
Doctor :   Do you have history of loss of consciousness or altered sensorium after the hit ?
User :   Yes, I think so. The last thing I remember was being assaulted on the floor and then when I woke up, I was on the bed.
Doctor :   Ok, If so i suggest you to go for a CT scan to rule out any intracranial injuries
Doctor :   loss of consciousness is one sign of brain contusion
Doctor :   but the itching could be due to superficial bruise
User :   Thank you for answering my questions. I was getting pretty worried. The only thing that is bothering me right now is the itching. Thank you so much!
Doctor :   thanks for consulting me
Doctor :   is there anything i can help you with ?
User :   Nope. That is all the questions I have.
Doctor :   Bye for now
Doctor :   take care
User :   Thank too!
