User :   hi ive been making my ears pop and click up to 10 times + a day for the last two years or so. PLease can u tell me if this is doing any damage to my ears, hearing and wat can be done to fix the damage. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CAN U HELP.
Doctor :   hello
User :   hi
Doctor :   may i know your age and gender please ?
User :   male and 19
Doctor :   what exactly do you mean by making your ears pop and click?
User :   well im a drummer and have a slight hearing loss. and i discovered when i popped my ears it made my hearing slighty better each time and ive formed a habbit of it
Doctor :   ok
User :   and my ears click all the time. sum times its like a screechy sound than a click sound
User :   can this habbit cause damage to my ear drum or ossicles etc
Doctor :   well popping ear in it self is no harm
Doctor :   but you need to work on the noise around you
Doctor :   i advice you to wear some sort ot plugs or headphones so that you can decrease the intensity of sound
Doctor :   as its not the popping BUT the loud music that can cause permanent hearing loss
User :   yea im aware of tht. and i do wear earplugs now. but i pop my ears to the point where they dont pop any more can this do damage
Doctor :   try to avoid it too much
Doctor :   like i said there is no evidence of any ear damage but any thing done in excess is not good
User :   ok. this may sound weird but how does hearing damage effect the sound of your own speaking voice
Doctor :   there are 2 types of hearing loss conductive hearing loss, sensorineural hearing loss
Doctor :   onw deals with the conduction of sound being sent to your ear
Doctor :   and other is with nerve damage
Doctor :   your own speaking voice will not cause any loss
User :   but i mean the volume i hear it at. because i have a slight hearing loss will this in turn make my own voice less loud and not as detailed.
Doctor :   to completely asses the magnitude of your hearing loss you would be required to get a audiometery test done
Doctor :   that can be done by a ENT specialist
User :   ok can this asses wheather my ear drum and ossicles are in working order
User :   i only have 40 secs left
Doctor :   yes
