User :   Hi there. I'm a 39-year-old female with a BMI of 35. I have been to the doctor complaining of intermittent nausea, flu-like symptoms and feelings of fullness in my upper abdomen. I've had these vague symptoms for years but since the birth of my son 10mths ago I've felt worse and have had 2 bad attacks where I was vomiting, passing pale-coloured stools and shivering. To cut a long story short the doctor sent me for a scan on my liver as a blood test showed some enzyme levels were raised. It revealed I have 3 large gallstones so he said I should have my gallbladder removed. The thing is that I don't get any pain and I'm frightened it could be something more sinister.
Doctor :   Hi.
User :   Hi
User :   Hi
Doctor :   give me a sec please
Doctor :   let me read your query
User :   ok
Doctor :   so when does your symptoms arise ?
User :   I get nausea mainly, anytime of the day but sometimes I feel worse if I've eaten something like cheese or had milk. It seems to sit heavy in my stomach
Doctor :   i see
Doctor :   are you on any medications at the moment ?
User :   I just wanted to add that my liver enzymes aren't always raised. The can be normal. I'm on Sertraline, an anti-depressant at the mo. I've been on them for yrs
Doctor :   ok
User :   I also had an endoscopy about 3 yrs ago which didn't show anything, just a slight hiatus hernia
Doctor :   ok, well what i can make out right now from the history that you have provided me is that your present symptoms are because of the two conditions
Doctor :   gall tones present as the typical pain and nausea that you have told me about
Doctor :   and hiatas hernia is responsible for the reflux
User :   I don't have any pain or reflux though - I just feel sick.
Doctor :   well the immediate treatment for you is that i will advice you to undergo cholycystectomy
Doctor :   and weight reduction after that
Doctor :   nausea and feeling of uneasiness after after having fairy rich food is CHARACTERISTIC of gall stone symptoms
Doctor :   dairy**
User :   Thanks, you've put my mind at rest. It's just The first surgeon I went to c at the hospital said he wouldn't remove my gallbladder as I didn't get pain so my GP sent me back again for a 2nd opinion and he said he would do
Doctor :   well i can assure you that you have been guided well by the surgeon
Doctor :   you have to get it removed
User :   I'm an anxious person and start worrying it might be cancer and I don't like to say this to my GP for fear of looking foolish
Doctor :   as the stones are big and you have A CLASSIC history of symptoms
Doctor :   i can understand your concern
Doctor :   dont worry
Doctor :   caner will NEVER present like that
Doctor :   cancer**
Doctor :   you have nothing to worry about , just go ahead and do make sure after your recovery you work on the weight reduction , and you will be fine
User :   Ok. Thanks very much. I do binge eat to cope wih my emotions so I'm sure this is what has caused gallstones.
User :   I will try to eat more sensibly and get some more therapy
Doctor :   be positive and dont worry
Doctor :   you have been recently blessed by a lovely son, so you need to take good care of your self
User :   Thank you. It's been useful. Yes. I need to think about my son as well now.
Doctor :   Your most welcome
Doctor :   take care of yourself
User :   I'l try. Bye and thanks once again.
Doctor :   bye bye
