User :   I seem to have a ear infection with the ear being very sensitive to touch and lot of oozing of liquid

User :   I had a blocked feeling in the right ear for the last 10 days I was adviced to take augmentin 625 and it seemed to clear yesterday, but since yesterday night I am having oozing and pain in the ear

Doctor :   difficulty in hearing?
User :   yes
Doctor :   Are you running fever?

Doctor :   Let me brief you.
Doctor :   Since I am unable to visually examine the ear,
User :   I would like to mention I am a diabetic
Doctor :   I cannot predict the exact cause,
Doctor :   however based on the description of the symptoms, its probably looks like serous otitis media.
Doctor :   Its bening condition, that occur due to inflammation of the middle ear
Doctor :   usually occur due to a viral infection.
Doctor :   However, since you have history of diabetes, there are high chances of secondary infections.
Doctor :   Let me suggest you few measures that you may have to follow.

Doctor :   1. Continue with the antibiotics suggested

Doctor :   2. Use antiinflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen
Doctor :   200mg tablets twice a day for 2 - 3 days

Doctor :   3. Keep your sugars under control, if required monitor your sugar levels using a glucometer (if you have it)

Doctor :   watch out for these symptoms
Doctor :   presence of pus discharge from your ears or development of fever
Doctor :   If you develop any of these symptoms or if your hearing difficulty and discharge increase, or if your symptoms are persisting inspite of the antibiotics,
Doctor :   you may have to report to your ENT specialist for reevaluation.

Doctor :   5. An act of swallowing and chewing helps in drainage of the secretions
Doctor :   hence also try using chewing gums, to help in drainage of the secretions out.
